Our client, located in Angola, Indiana also has a plant located in Suzhou, China, and business is strong.  Our client, a leader in the metal plaiting industry  has a track record of success and innovation, and is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who, as the sole Manufacturing Engineer in the Angola plant, will play a key role in our client's continued success.  As a Manufacturing Engineer you will focus on  modifying and making  improvements to existing equipment  and processes to help improve safety, reliability, and plant throughput.  You will spend approximately 80-85% of your time on the floor.   You will report to the Engineering Manager, along with an Electrical Engineer and a Chemical Engineer.
  • Investigate, discuss, and solve complex problems by interacting with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, customers, and suppliers
  • Help further company culture of implementing innovative processes and continually improving existing processes
  • Utilize research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design ( SolidWorks and limited AutoCAD )
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques
  • Maintain and oversee detail of all engineering prints (specifically, two dimensional building layouts in AutoCAD)
  • Assist in equipment repair to aid in diagnosis and problem solving
  • Design new dies
  • Oversee design, construction, and operation of new equipment installations
  • Compose procedures for new operations
  • Evaluate existing systems and modify as appropriate to improve performance
Your background must include:
  • BSMET 
  • Minimum of 5  years’ work experience in an industrial environment.   Foundry experience a plus.
  • Experience working with basic hand tools and rotating industrial equipment such as shafts, bearing, motors, and gearboxes
  • Solid continuous improvement experience
  • Welding experience a plus but not required.
  •  Die design experience using 3D modeling skills.  Strong preference for SolidWorks
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Desire to work in a very hands-on role with up to 80% of your time on the floor.
  • Ability to work with those of all levels
