Our client, a solid, stable growing company is looking for a top notch  Vice President of Engineering and Operations to lead their team.  A leader in their industry with an innovative technical product, a talented team, and opportunities for growth.

In this role you will direct and coordinate activities of the engineering department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Establishes strategic engineering plans both domestically and internationally to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive engineering plans and programs, both short and long range to support sales and revenue objectives of organization.
  • Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Advises management of new developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
  • Develops ideas for new products or product enhancements and oversees the creation and improvement of products that involve the engineering department.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies, which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Oversees engineering function both domestically and internationally.
  • Regulatory experience with UL, NSF, CSA. and CE.
  • Working with Technical Service, Marketing and Sales, and Operations, advises upper management on product development, warranty, design and component issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls with customers.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                  
  • Manages Product Development Designers, Engineers, and Technicians. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training and retraining competent staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 Education and/or Experience  
  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum along with at least ten years experience in higher level engineer or Vice President, Engineering position and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Awarded or Pending Patents preferred 
  • CFSP certification to be obtained within three years of service.
  • General knowledge of personal computer utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook software.  
  • Capable user of SolidWorks 3D CAD software or other similar 3D solid modeling CAD software.
