Vice President of Operations

Fort Wayne or Indianapolis, Indiana

Our client, Benchmark Human Services, is seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead its industrial operations: a group of businesses spanning print and mail, light manufacturing, highway safety products and federal contract services. These businesses compete on quality, on-time delivery and customer service, and they share one mission: creating meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities. This is an ideal role for an operations leader who wants their work to make a difference.

The opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, you'll set the direction for multiple business lines across several states, lead a team of directors and managers, and grow new business that supports the mission.

What you'll lead

  • Full-service print and mail
  • Light manufacturing, packaging and assembly
  • Manufacturing and distribution of highway safety products
  • Mailroom operations at federal installations across the country
  • Prevocational training programs that build workplace readiness

Where you'll make your mark

  • Run the numbers: Own P&L performance, budgets and cost control across all business lines, using Power BI, HRIS and trend reporting.
  • Grow the business: Lead business development and write formal proposals for public and private contracts and negotiate the contracts that follow.
  • Keep it compliant: Make sure every operation meets federal, state and agency standards, and build strong working relationships with state regulators and auditors.
  • Build the team: Hire, develop and lead the directors and managers who run each operation.
  • Partner across Benchmark: Work closely with compliance, legal, HR and finance.

What you bring

Required

  • 10+ years of management experience
  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial operations setting
  • Strong financial analysis skills and a record of managing P&Ls and budgets
  • Experience negotiating contracts
  • An active federal security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one
  • A leader who can rally a team around a mission
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to sites

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in human services
  • Knowledge of SourceAmerica and the AbilityOne Program
  • Knowledge of the Davis-Bacon Act
  • Based in, or within commuting distance of Fort Wayne or Indianapolis, Indiana

Why this role

  • The work matters. Every contract you win and every line you improve creates jobs for people who are often shut out of the workforce.
  • Senior leadership. You'll report directly to the CEO as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Real variety. Manufacturing, print and mail, highway safety products and federal contracts, all in one role.

What's In It for You

  • Meaningful work
  • Competitive Salary
  • Bonus Potential
  • Health Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • PTO and Sick Time
  • 401k and Profit Sharing
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Discount Program for Products and Services including Auto and Home Insurance
  • Company Paid Life Insurance
  • Multiple Voluntary Insurance Products
